Sonica will take place in a private location situated at 800m from the big vulcanic lake Bolsena. Capodimonte is the closer village and its citizens are warm and hospitales. These good feelings mixed with the peaceful gaiety of all the people arrived to celebrate the event, made the last edition an unforgettable experience. Inside the area there will be two stages, camping with toilets and showers, international food, first aid, market and shops, healing and cultural area with meetings and workshops, two big car parks and a free internet wi-fi area.

This lake is situated in the northern Lazio, in the main caldera of the volcanic group Vulsinio, it is an elliptic shape. With a surface of 114.5 square km., max depth 151 m. and a boundary of 43 km.; from it emerge two isles: Bisentina and Martana, probably residual volcanic products. It is mainly fed by raining water and there are numerous tributaries with just one effluent: Marta river that has its source from the port of the homonymous village and it flows into the Tirreno sea. On the fertile shores, in addition to oak and chestnut woods, alternates farming of vines, olives and vegetables. Among the various tourist attractions, the below mentioned are those with a cultural and archaeological purpose; as a matter of fact on the lake’s shore followed one another the Villanoviana, Etruscan and Roman civilization, while the medieval period left its important mark in the small near villages. The volcanic lake, the greatest of Europe and the 5th one for its dimensions in Italy, is a few km. North to Viterbo. A road 60 km. long surrounds it with a breathless panorama. The lake’s origin begins when the Vulsinio volcanic group, following some lava eruptions, empty out and fall on itself creating a big caldera that will be then slightly fill up by water. The lake’s bottom is very irregular with many roughnesses while the two beautiful isles, the Bisentina (0.17 square ) and the Martana (0.10 square Km), both full of mediterranean vegetation, contrasts the azure colour of the surface. On the lake’s shore a lot of small restaurants have been increased, often they lie in old fishermen’s huts and we can taste lake’s fishes’ dishes. The inhabited centres, full of history, either on the shores or on Volsini mountains, crowning the Bolsena lake, are very hospitable with a hotel’s receptivity now restricted, assured for the moment just from the summer campings, the rented rooms, flats and the increasing agriturismo. We could visit the following villages going from Bolsena and following clockwise the panorama road: Bolsena, the town that gave the name to the lake. Montefiascone, with the most beautiful view of the lake. Marta, main and active fishermen’s port. Capodimonte, on the picturesque promontory leaning forward the lake. Valentano, with its wide view dominating the lake. Gradoli, on a tufa buttress inside the crateral enclosure. Grotte di Castro, keep the beauty of the medieval structure. San Lorenzo Nuovo, the excellent example of a eighteenth century’s town-planning. Bisentina Isle Martana Isle Bolsena lake is the cleanest major lake of Europe. Purity of its water is assured by a technological advanced treatment. We do our best to preserve the nature and we ask you to do the same.
